Art & Living

In order to create, you have to live. You have to listen.

Don't forget the living. Don't neglect the listening.

It's as interwoven into craft as any technique perfected, as any restless repetition.

Gather life experiences like an art collector possessed. In this way, be greedy, for it will propel you to explore places unknown. And places unknown lead to poems not yet written, portraits not yet painted, scripts not yet plotted.

The only alternative to creating art and living is living in art – never leaving the confines of your cabin, never stepping foot outside your studio.

Even the hermit must venture to the village every now and again. To restock. To refuel. To reimagine.

Keep living – even if only to keep creating.
